True Taste of success!

It has been a golden year for The Pudding Compartment. Not only did we win coveted Great Taste Awards for both our Sticky Toffee Pudding and our Ginger Pudding as first-time entrants, but we were also named the True Taste of Wales category award winners for our Seville Pudding, which combines the bittersweet flavours of Seville orange marmalade and apricots. And all of this in our first year of business!

St David’s Day weekend saw The Pudding Compartment selling its delectable desserts direct to foodie consumers in both Cardiff and central London. The Really Welsh Food Festival took place from 26–28 February in central Cardiff and featured 15 leading food producers from around Wales. It was a great opportunity to sample some fantastic Welsh produce and pick up all the requisite ingredients for a proper St David’s Day celebration meal on 1 March.

We were also delighted to take part in the first ever Welsh produce market in central London. This event, organised as part of True Taste of Wales, was held in St Christopher’s Place, just off Oxford Street on the afternoon and evening of 27 February and was a great way for Londoners to experience the delights of Welsh cuisine. Shoppers, workers and tourists alike flocked to the stalls to sample the wares of the selection of True Taste award-winners.

Other recent highlights include an appearance on QVC in November as part of the True Taste of Wales Food programme, where The Pudding Compartment showcased its range alongside well-known award-winning Welsh brands such as Harvies Pies, Welsh Farm Organics and Abergavenny Fine Foods.

The Pudding Compartment wins two Great Taste Awards

Here at The Pudding Compartment we're celebrating after winning not one but two prestigious Great Taste Awards!

We've been awarded two Great Taste Gold Awards: one for our Zingy Ginger Pudding and the other for our Sticky Toffee Pudding.

The Great Taste Awards, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, are often referred to as the ‘Oscars’ of the food industry, and the judging standards are the most rigorous in the UK.

Every entry is blind tasted by teams of experts. By the time it earns gold, it will have been assessed by at least three different teams.

This year’s judges included Alex James, farmer, journalist and bass player with Blur; Mark Hix, the chef’s chef; Charles Campion from the Evening Standard and the Independent; Tom Parker-Bowles of UKTV Food’s Market Kitchen and national food journalist Fiona Sims.

The Pudding Compartment goes to Windsor!

Antony Worrall Thompson, pictured here with Mark Ellis of the Pudding Compartment, recently celebrated both the opening of his new 'Windsor Larder' delicatessen and the news that it will be stocking the Pudding Compartment range of steamed puddings.

Both companies were exhibiting at the recent 'Taste of London' food event held in Regent's Park, London. Antony and Mark toasted the new partnership with a glass of wine from AWT's new wine supply business and a Pudding Compartment Citrus pudding.
